A Quick Bite By Lynsay Sands; A Book Review
According to Lynsay Sands’ official site, A Quick Bite is the first novel in the Argeneau book series by reading order. I found out about the Argeneau series shortly after I got started on Libby and me being me, I started off at like book 20 or something.
I’m actually re-reading the books up to where I stopped back in February again, just to be able to write reviews on them because while the premise of the books are similar, they each kind of have their own personality.

Adult Content: Yes, not super descriptive but it’s there.
The Argeneau series is a book series I would highly recommend to anyone trying to get into romance/supernatural romance books because it’s not super romantic but it’s also not putting romance on the backburner either.
Synopsis
Lissianna has been spending her centuries pining for Mr. Right, not just a quick snack, and this sexy guy she finds in her bed looks like he might be a candidate. But there’s another, more pressing issue: her tendency to faint at the sight of blood . . . an especially annoying quirk for a vampire. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that this man has a delicious-looking neck. What kind of cold-blooded vampire woman could resist a bite of that?
Dr. Gregory Hewitt recovers from the shock of waking up in a stranger’s bedroom pretty quickly—once he sees a gorgeous woman about to treat him to a wild night of passion. But is it possible for the good doctor to find true love with a vampire vixen, or will he be just a good meal? That’s a question Dr. Greg might be willing to sink his teeth into . . . if he can just get Lissianna to bite.

Now, our main characters are actually rather interesting and will appear often in the series. Lissianna and Gregory are probably one of the best couples in the series, and their story made a big impact on my opinion of the series (a good opinion!).
I’m not going to lie, I found Greg a little boring to start with. But he’s also that super stable pillar type of character so I didn’t really mind it as much either. I found it very startling that Greg didn’t really balk at the situations he was faced with, though I’ll chalk it up to his calm personality and him just maybe being a therapist.

The whole backstory of the Argeneau family and the rest of the immortals are also very unique, I love that their backstory is that they were originally from Atlantis. It really plays into the legends about Atlantis being a very advanced society, and how their downfall came in the form of Atlantis sinking into the ocean.
The whole explanation of the Nanos were really unique compared to some of the other vampire origins; disease, virus, mutation, radioactive mutation, genetic mutation, etc.
The book is a little on the meaty side though because it lays a lot of the groundwork for the backstory of the immortals, the characteristics of immortals, their weaknesses and etc.
I will admit, the story gets a little bit slow at times and I had to stop the urge to change my usual 1.25x speed for audiobooks to 1.50x. I don’t think the narrator helped much either for the audiobook, because I thought that the voices she used for both Greg and Lissi were a little similar. I had moments where I had to rewind it to figure out who said what.
With that being said, the problem Lissi faces is certainly unique for a vampire. And I thought it was creative to try and bring a therapist in to help a vampire with her hemophobia, but the second problem brought up in the novel isn’t new for this genre and would be brought up a few more times in the series.
I feel that Lissi and Greg are a good match because they both have a down-to-earth type of personality given to them. Greg is very practical and Lissi is kind of the out-of-the-box person.
Though I feel that aside from the action parts of the novel, Lissi and Greg seem a little boring. But we don’t see much of them in the series after this novel.
Overall, this is a light and enjoyable book/audiobook and I recommend it. If this one novel doesn’t suit you though, there are about 30 others in the series you can try, I don’t think they need to be read in order either so that’s a bonus!
